Upstream Worldwide Services

Upstream is a global brand that has aided in the development of professionals and the everyday person in various countries. Its global reception is grounded in the fact that everyone knows, understands, and respects struggle that turns into success. Whether an individual wants to work on mental fitness, physical fitness, or both, the Upstream Coaching style will produce measurable outcomes.

Upstream was created as a tool to develop a person’s personal and professional performance through the art and lessons of inner-city calisthenics. Upstream was born and bred in the Bronx – as its Founder and team. The lessons learned from surviving the violence and poverty that exists in the Bronx, the lessons learned becoming a success from the inner-city, is what birthed Upstream. Ian understood what failure looked like, because the people that he grew-up with was either locked up or dead. Ian wanted a way to do more than give back to the community. He wanted a way to uplift those that grew-up out of poverty. While through Upstream he could potentially give people jobs; he, rather, developed a way for people to get a job themselves and keep it. Through session after session, person after person, testimonial after testimonial, Ian learned that he had something that was more than just a tool for people who are from where’s from. Ian learned that he could teach Upstream as a tool to anyone in need of better focus and performance in any context.

Upstream is a philosophical approach to fitness. At Upstream, we use the Socratic-method of investigation to help people create their own self-motivation. Through our process, people become more focused, efficient, and productive in their work performance and/or their everyday life. Upstream can be implemented within a business of any type, an educational institution, and a government institution. It can be conducted on an individual or group level. Our services include youth development, professional development, athletic development, geriatric development and post-traumatic stress solutions. Our services are tailored to the individual and/or the group. Each participant receives their own individualized plans, reports, and Upstream Instructor, in order to produce measured results.

Our Services

Professional Development

Through active or demonstrated calisthenics, participants receive a treatment plan uniquely designed to develop the focus, habits, creative thinking, analytical thinking, and discipline, of our participants. Through motivational interviewing, the Socratic-method, and our executive-coaching style, our participants’ performance increase at a rate measurable to none. Regardless of the fitness goal, our participants will be able to see results promised to a followed-through treatment plan.

Physical and Mental Development

Through our wholistic exercise program, individuals are trained to go from an amateur level of conditioning to a professional level of conditioning utilizing their own body weight. Our participants can expect to develop their upper- body strength, core strength, cardio capacity, and focus. The uniqueness of our program lies in our ability to improve drive and ambition with each interaction. At Upstream we have a mind, body soul approach. In comparison to a three- legged table, if you cut one leg it will fall. We instill fitness within our participants, the ability to turn on and off the combination of the best of their training combined with sheer will part of a balance curriculum.

Geriatric Training

Our Geriatric program is designed to re-ignite the youth within the elderly and/or senior citizens. Through a myriad of fun activities, we stimulate the cognitive abilities of our participants, helping them develop their memory, creative thinking, and physical fitness. For example it’s a “monkey bar” for children, exercise equipment for adults, and physical therapy for the elderly; likewise, making our approach cross generational.

Youth Development

Our youth program teaches youth how to be youth who will one day become adults. Through our training, youth learn how to have responsible fun, how to think long-term, and work-life balance. Whether our youth come from the inner-city, poor, violent, ridden neighborhoods or from rich affluent, prestigious neighborhoods, Upstream instill principles and values in our youth that will serve them into adulthood.

Trauma Solutions

Exercise in a system designed to improve the quality of your life. Whether it's strength training in the calisthenics, running, walking, bike riding, team sports, gym, even yoga or tai-chi, they all provide benefit for your mental health inclusive of PTSD. Exercise helps your nervous system restore balance by burning off adrenaline and releasing endorphins through movement. Endorphins help combat situational depression that may develop as a result of the traumatic event. There is evidence that physical health influences mental health, and physical manifestations of psychological stress and trauma can show up as muscle tension, increased heart rate, palpitations, trembling and even pain. With this in mind, it’s even more important to get people moving, as motion is the lotion that “lubricates” the body and can potentially help individuals process the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety and PTSD.

Testimonials from the Community

Mr. Davis is the heart and soul of this service. His concern extends beyond the limits of an average school or work day for students and parents. He has attended court cases, provided food and shelter to the youth he works with and continues to extend himself as needed to the youth and their families.

Mrs. Jennifer A. Volpe MA

I believe Faith Youth Services is diligent in trying to positively prepare these youth for the world by going above and beyond focusing on things they may lack in rather than character building, interviewing skills, financial literacy, social skills etc. Faith Youth Services in my opinion seems to be a very well rounded program that has the best interest of youth in mind

Marilyn Hobson

people and can get them to think through their choices and provide the support they need to make healthier decisions more consistently.
